Manual & Massage Therapy

Manual therapy is usually included for pain and injury treatments, and can come in the form of cupping, gua sha (scrapping), and massage.

Cupping is a type of negative pressure massage. Depending on the desired outcome, cups may be kept on the body only for a moment, for 5-10 minutes, or glided over the body with a lubricant. The strength of suction is adjustable, and always applied within the tolerance and comfort of the patient. Cupping is a patient favourite because it’s relaxing and very effective.

Gua Sha is a manual technique that involves repeatedly scraping a lubricated area with a smooth edge tool. Pressure is adjusted to patient comfort and is surprisingly relaxing! Gua Sha is often used to remove deep or stubborn knots/adhesions, or to release heat and inflammation.
